The town of Sulzano, being located in a strategic position on Lake Iseo, allows numerous excursions in the immediate vicinity. Starting from our house, following the Via Valeriana, you reach paths that, through chestnut groves and pastures, lead to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Giogo (968 m above sea level). From the town of Marone, located a few kilometers north of the municipality of Sulzano, several cycle paths depart, including the Panoramic Road specifically designed for cycling enthusiasts and runners. By the end of April 2023, the Brescia Bergamo Cultura cycle path will be completed, which extends for 76 km. The cycle path will be "a thread that allows you to experience the immersion in the cultural landscape between the two cities". Along the route, in total, you will cross 27 municipalities with the possibility of visiting a total of about 800 assets of historical and cultural interest (historical centers, villages, museums, monasteries, castles, villas, farmhouses, mills, dams, industrial archaeology settlements, etc...), 3 regional parks (Colli di Bergamo, Serio and Oglio Nord), 3 parks of supra-municipal interest and the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve. Among the attractions and beauties that are found along the route, it is worth mentioning the UNESCO sites: the Venetian Walls of Bergamo fortified city, the complex of San Salvatore and Santa Giulia and the archaeological area of the Capitolium.
Going north, along the shores of the lake, you can reach Monte Guglielmo: a spectacular viewpoint over Lake Iseo and the surrounding valleys, from whose summit, on clear days, you can see the Dolomites to the north and the Apennines to the south. Always heading north, along the road that leads to Zone, you can admire the earth pyramids of the natural reserve (Regional Reserve of the Pyramids of Zone) and then reach Valle Camonica, a land rich in history and famous for its rock carvings (Naquane Rock Engravings National Park).
From the pier in the town of Sulzano, guided boat tours depart for the other towns on the lake. In a short time you reach Peschiera Maraglio, on the island of Monte Isola, which is the largest lake island in Europe, completely pedestrian, an ideal destination for nature excursions. In Monte Isola numerous artisanal productions flourish and prosper, such as the famous "DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil", the Cure salami, the particular preparation of lake fish and the tasty sardines. Every 5 years, for a century and a half now, and this year (2025) from 8 to 14 September, the traditional and famous Festa di Santa Croce takes place on the island. On this occasion, the streets, houses and churches of the town are decorated with 200,000 handmade paper flowers. A spectacle not to be missed!
In 15 minutes you can reach the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve, declared a "wetland of international importance" according to the Ramsar Convention and a Site of Community Interest (SCI) of the Natura 2000 Network, it is considered a priority area for biodiversity in the Po Valley of Lombardy. From Sulzano, in 15 minutes, you can reach "Franciacorta", a land rich in hills and famous throughout the world for its wine.
For golf lovers, the "Franciacorta Golf Club" is available with its 9 prestigious courses.
In just 25 minutes, you can reach the Roman city of Brescia, known as "the Lioness of Italy". In the city you can visit the Monastic Complex of San Salvatore - Santa Giulia of Lombard origin, a UNESCO heritage site. In the adjacent archaeological area of the "Capitolium" the main public buildings of the Roman era are concentrated, on the ruins of which the Lombards built homes, production activities and burials. Unique in Italy and Europe for its exhibition concept and location, the City Museum allows a journey through the history and art of Brescia, from prehistoric times to today, in an exhibition area of about 14.000 m².
In about 60 minutes you can reach the metropolis of Milan (westwards) and the city of Verona (eastwards).
